Welcome to Our Blog!
The DAF Story
Hello and thank you for stopping by. Before talking about the blog, I would like to give you a little personal background. I grew up in Louisville, KY, the youngest of five children. Most of the fishing I did as a young boy was with my dad. We would get up early on Saturday mornings and head out to whatever body of water we could get to before sunrise. Mostly, we would fish for bluegill and crappie to take home for lunch. My mom loved crappie and I could always claim the title of “favorite son” if I could bring home a couple nice slabs for her. We would also try our hands at fishing for bass and we would also land the occasional catfish. I think my hatred for catfish came on a trip to a local pay lake when I got barbed by Channel Cat. As I got older and started driving, I would head out on my own and explore different areas and techniques to fish. When my friends were busy experimenting with other things, I was experimenting with different lures and techniques. When I was transferred for work in my mid 20’s, we moved into a neighborhood that had a lake. Nearly every day after work I would head to the bank and see what I could land before dinner. I am still haunted by that big smallmouth that spit the hook about two feet from shore. As work became more time consuming and the responsibilities of family grew greater, I ended up putting my fishing poles down. That was until the spring of 2020. Just like everyone else, I was trying to find a way to kill the time while staying away from everyone other than my wife and son. I went into my garage, saw my fishing equipment in the corner and the rest is history. My wife suggested I start a YouTube channel to have something to do with our son. That morphed into; Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok, and now this blog.
Enough about me, let’s talk about the blog. The intent of this blog is to be a place where people who love fishing, particularly bass fishing, can come and get information about the sport they enjoy so much. There will be articles posted about lures, techniques, and tips. Regarding lures, not only are we going to discuss what’s new, but we are also going to talk about the lures I grew up with. I have fallen in love with vintage lures. Vintage lures are not only cool to look at, but I have found some of them to be incredibly effective. Same with techniques. There are some tried and tested techniques that we know work, but there are always new ways to fish out there and we will talk about them. We will also add some other tips that will help you not only find the fish, but also help you get them to bite and land more fish.
Thank you again for stopping by and I look forward to having you come by whenever you would like. Also, if you would like, check out the links to my social media accounts listed below.
